I am a huge fan of the Moroccanoil hair products. It’s the scent that does it for me. I love, love, love the smell of Moroccanoil products. I also happen to love the packaging. While I don’t use their signature Original Treatment Oil, as it contains silicone, I do have many of their products in my arsenal that are go to’s for me like their Dry Texture Spray and Dry Shampoo Light Tones. When I heard Moroccanoil was releasing a Curl Collection it felt like a dream come true. All of the products are, of course, infused with Moroccanoil argan oil. I am happy to report I have discovered some new favorites in this collection. The full range includes:

Cleanse

Moroccanoil Curl Enhancing Shampoo ($29 CAD) – This sulfate, phosphate, and paraben free shampoo is safe for even color treated hair. It gently cleanses hair and includes a blend of hydrolyzed vegetable protein and Abyssinian oil to strengthen and protect hair. It does lather.

Moroccanoil Curl Enhancing Conditioner ($30 CAD) – This sulfate, phosphate, silicone, and paraben free conditioner also contains hydrolyzed vegetable protein, Argan oil, and Abyssinian oil for nourished, and strengthened curls. This conditioner does a great job of softening and detangling my hair without weighing it down.

Moroccanoil Curl Cleansing Conditioner ($34 CAD) – I haven’t tried this cleansing conditioner, as it contains silicones, but I love the idea of this no foam shampoo and conditioner. It contains natural tea tree oil and nourishes and conditions curly hair while gently cleansing. It’s great for when you’re in a hurry!

Style

Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream ($38 CAD) – This is a leave-in conditioner, so it provides no hold, but it conditions wavy and curly hair to help define and refresh curls and reduce frizz.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cetearyl Alcohol, Quaternized Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone, Dimethylaminoethyl Methylacrylate, Glycol Stearate, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-72, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Behentrimonium Methosulfate C10-40, Isoalkylamido, Propylethyldimonium, Ethosulfate, Ceteareth-20, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Dimethicone, Parfum (Fragrance), DMDM Hydantoin, Lactic Acid

Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream ($35 CAD) – This all-in-one product will define curls while fighting frizz. It has heat activated technology that helps activate curls. It is best for naturally curly and wavy hair types.

Ingredients: Water (aqua), cetearyl alcohol, polyquaternium-11, glycol stearate, hydrolyzed vegetable protein PG-Propyl silanetriol, polyquaternium-72, argania spinosa kernel oil (argan oil), fragrance (parfum), dimethicone, behentrimonium methosulfate (and) C10-40 isoalkylamidopropylethldimonium ethosulfate (and) cetyl alcohol, ceteareth-20, DMDM hydantoin, lactic acid

Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse ($24 CAD) – This mousse is formulated for very curly and tightly spiral curled hair. It shapes and tames curls while sealing in moisture to control curls without any crunchy feel. While my hair is certainly not tightly curled this is my preferred styling product of the three.

Refresh

Moroccanoil Curl Re-Energizing Spray ($25 CAD) – This curl refreshing spray is infused with nourishing argan oil, green tea and aloe leaf juice. It is the perfect way to add some bounce and life back into your second and third day curls. The spray adds some moisture and shine while taming frizz without weighing hair down. Plus the smell is heavenly.

All of the products appear to be sulfate free. I try to avoid silicones so I have been sticking to using the products that are silicone free, including the Curl Enhancing Shampoo and Curl Enhancing Conditioner, and the Curl Control Mousse. I’ve also been using the Curl Re-Energizing Spray, even though it does contain silicones it is quite low on the ingredients list and I can’t resist the heavenly scent to refresh my curls with. I may yet decide to play with the silicone containing products and see if my fine hair agrees with their use sparingly without getting weighed down.

As with any curl product the key is experimenting with the amount of product you use to find the amount that will give you nicely formed curls without being too crunchy or heavy. I have learned over the years that I need to use much more product than I would have expected. I am really enjoying the Curl Control Mousse as it is a light airy foam (more the consistency of a hand wash foam as opposed to a standard hair mousse if that makes sense) that doesn’t leave my hair crunchy at all and it doesn’t weigh down my fine, thin curls.

I am testing out a lot of new, or new to me, curl products right now, and given I only wash my hair every two or three days it can take me quite a while to form a solid opinion on something. I will try to keep you posted as I continue enjoying these products.

I’m working on getting full ingredient listings for more of the products for you. Because of the curve of the bottles it doesn’t photograph well, and I think it would take me a week to type out all these convoluted words. If you have specific ingredient inquiries on any of the products fire away!

  4. These products sound wonderful and they’re definitely something I would have tried if I still had long hair. My hair only started to wave/curl about 2 inches from my roots so now that I have short hair it’s all straight. No need for curling products anymore.
